Zeb Daemen

Description

Zeb Daemen is a photographer who came to me with a clear brief: make a website that gets out of the way of the work. No menu, no subpages, no whitespace between images. The result is a four-column grid where each column scrolls at its own speed — a nod to film reels running side by side. A frosted glass blur and soft fade-in ease you in on arrival; the only detour is a minimal info page with a short bio and links to his agent and Instagram. Every time you visit or refresh, the order reshuffles, so the site feels fresh each time and Zeb can add work without ever having to curate the sequence. For an artist like him, the best interface is the one you forget is there.

Balo Design Boutique

Description

Balo is part interior design store, part architectural studio. While they’ll design everything from your kitchen to a sunken seated garden area, you can just as well get your fix of Hermès scented candles at their boutiques. In short: people who understand the art that goes into an interior.

We caught their craft in Craft, building a website that’s all understated hues and classy fine lines. The goal: to get visitors to make an appointment, but always gracefully. They are architects of atmosphere, after all.

Klanghaus Agency

Description

Klanghaus gives brands a sound of their own. Founded by a DJ/producer, an MTV veteran and a business director, it’s an agency built on the energy of three worlds colliding. The logo and base branding were already there, so the job was to build an entire visual universe around them.

I went dark: a 3D world with glowing red forms and fluid transitions, equal parts Blade Runner and Tron. Strong typography, smooth motion, and an audio-driven experience where you don’t just see the work — you hear it. No visual noise for a brand that lives and breathes sound.

VYGR

Description

VYGR is the weekly online radio show of DJ/producer Peter Luts. Originally named Voyager, trimming it down to VYGR made it sharper, more modern, and far easier to own as a brand and logo.

The centrepiece is a 3D logo and visual identity that gives the show a distinct, recognisable face. Something that stands out in a world where most radio shows make do with a still image.

N•VDM

Description

The pleasure in working with a textile artist like Nathalie Van der Massen lies in translating her views and singularity into code. Her screens, room dividers, curtains and interior work all share this tactility. Natural materials everywhere, layers of light and transparency. Art yes, but please do touch. The job: carry this sophistication into a Shopify environment. Just like Nathalie’s work, the result is minimalist, but detailed.

ISU Antwerp

Description

Have a seat. Have some coffee. Ignore your phone. The next hour is all yours. Isu is a hair dresser that doesn’t just do blow dryers, curlers and scissors. They’ll take their time, for they know yours is precious. In a shop that’s a mix of minimal design and warm accents of wood, Kevin De Bilde shapes your hair to match your persona.

Likewise, the website, cards and all other declinations mirror the understated look. From the logo, we distilled the dividing line between Roman script and Kanji characters, then rotated it 90 degrees. By stretching it further, we elevated that line into a visual element. Simple, but thorough, leaving all the room for you to fill in the blanks with wild ideas for a cut that just says ‘you’.

MAD CAT

Description

Remember De Kat? That old tv series we used to watch, with an agile cat-man who’d outsmart a bunch of orange-clad clumsy guys out to catch him. Just for fun, and because I was experimenting with Cinema 4D and 3D, I decided to create an image that would serve as an homage to De Kat. MAD CAT was a collaboration with Bartholot, a Berlin-based visual artist with a knack for imagery that sticks to your retina.

The sketches of the mask are reminiscent of my obsession with geometric shapes back then. We called up Harald Erath, who made a mask for the shoot. Blending the red background, stern shapes and enlarged hands, the three of us created a character that beckons respect, a little awe, even, yet also has that playful hint of imagination that makes anything possible.

Hit Hard

Description

In 2010, Swedish DJ and producer Axwell asked me to design a series of T-shirts built around his quotes. I chose Hit Hard as the basis for this one. Packs a punch, doesn’t it?

The design has been in the archive ever since — until now. To bring it back, I built a 3D mascotte around it: a new presentation for an old piece of work. That same mascotte also runs through the rest of the website, showing up across different projects as a recurring face that ties everything together.
